One day JESUS was walking with His disciples and seeing a fig tree by the wayside, He went to it and found nothing on it but leaves. It was the time of year that it should have had figs, it was growing leaves, but it had no fruit. He said to the tree, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree immediately withered.
The next morning as they passed by the fig tree He had cursed, the disciples noticed it had withered from the roots up. Why did JESUS curse the tree.? It was deceptive. It had the appearance of a fruitful tree, but it was not.
Judgment, condemnation, guilt and arrogance destroys people. Like the fig tree, their lives are dried up, are withering and they are fruitless. JESUS cursed the fig tree and it withered away. There is no blessing conveyed by arrogance, condemnation and dismissal. Their leaves are hiding their fruitlessness.
The Law is the conduit of death. When 'the sign' in our life says, "God hates sinners!" it becomes judge and the jury. By doing so, the sentence is death, not for those accused but for the judges .
When 'the sign' in our life says, "Down with the poor, sick, blind, lame, alcoholics, criminals and addicts!" Those subscribing to a hatred which JESUS calls the same as murder create their own sentence. Neglect and denial of those in need cause the proud to wither.
When 'the sign' in our life says, "They are unacceptable, marginal, hated, black, brown, white, unnecessary or gay!" it casts dispersions on every conceivable people group on the planet by condemning just one. Disease sets into those that condemn and death begins from the root.
Judge not or be judged. Love others as I have loved you. The good news we are learning about in the Miracle of CommunionFire is that our eyes open to 'recognize' JESUS. We know Him. We know the about the dimensions of His Love. We relate as He relates - with compassion and care.
We also know that His Table has a place reserved for "Insert Name". He leads us and feeds us. We are just sheep coming to the Table He prepares for us. There is no other description - we are just sheep! All are welcome! "Come! The feast is ready!"
If you turn down His invitation there are plenty who are weary, hungry, thirsty, poor, broken, without money, diseased, lame, blind and are really looking for Him. They want a miracle. They need a miracle. There is one young man who got the message right, "God hates no one!"
