In The Fire Light: "He told them a parable."
Like the cub approaching Papa Lion we can imagine Jesus gathering the children together to tell them a story.
In CommunionFire I am like that cub. The lion, Jesus, is waiting for me. He nods and smiles when I see Him.
When Jesus walked the earth He spoke in parables to the general public. He was sowing seed for the new reality He was bringing to the earth. He talked about pearls, mustard seeds, vineyards and many everyday things that people could understand. Then after He ascended to heaven and sent the Holy Spirit the truth of those stories began to unfold in the lives of God's people.
In CommunionFire He still speaks to us but His stories are less like parables and more like messages that are personal and life-giving. He illustrates what He says and sometimes His illustrations are outlandish. To one He shares a glimmer of fire while another sees Him dancing with a tambourine. Once I saw Him down the beach and He threw a smooth stone. It skipped once on the water of the beach and landed in my mouth! What on earth could a stone in the mouth pertain too? It made no sense until we read Genesis 29:1-10. Its a good read and had to do with 'removing the stone from the mouth of the well' where the shepherds brought their sheep to get refreshed.
CommunionFire is simple and profound. Jesus speaks to us in ways that lets us know it really is Him. He shows us things that He knows we can personally relate to. By doing this we get to know Him in personal ways. We recognize the kind way He looks at us and the gentle way He shares with us. Is it any wonder that we keep coming back every day to spend time with Him?
