In the Fire Light: “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18
After sharing the Love Feast of Communion with the Lord we pause for a brief moment to give thanks, to lift our hands in praise or quietly reflect on our encounter with Jesus. Some will write a couple of notes to remember a detail or two in their journal.
Being with Jesus creates excitement. The excitement is from the fresh life He is pouring into us. When Jesus reveals His love and life in very specific and intimate ways, it becomes an eternal memory in the treasury of our heart. Then when we share our experiences it is like we each bring out the treasure and 'set it on the Table'. We share the treasure by describing how He 'created it' when we were in His CommunioFire. He also shared it with us to share it with each other. Because it is a common experience we enter into communion with each other. The more we do, the communion begins to shape community.
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you," John 14:26 ESV
Sharing Our Experiences is our Witness to His Testimony
Jesus promised, 'You shall receive power from the Holy Spirit to become my witnesses'.
In CommunionFire we become first hand witnesses to encountering Jesus. What He shows and tells us is His testimony. It is personal and powerful. It is given to us, like the bread and cup, to share with others. It is a gift He gives us personally and to share with others. It is as fresh as the last time you came to His table.
Just as we share the Bread and Cup, We Share His Testimony with One Another.
We share with each other about what we saw, heard and understood in the light of the glory of the Lord. We tell what we've experienced. Details emerge. It’s remarkable how everyone tries to share accurately. You can see that the Holy Spirit is navigating the conversation. He is the rudder of our fellow-ship and the wind in the sails of our witness. You can see it. You can sense it. You can feel it.
The Dialog Sounds Like This
"When eating the bread I saw Jesus... He was wearing... It was early morning on the beach..." (sharing details about our encounter).
"When drinking the wine the Holy Spirit showed me the words.... or told me... or gave me the sense that..." (sharing about how the Holy Spirit comments on the encounter).
For Some the Experience is Immediate for Others it Evolves
At your first, second or third communion you may share that His peace settled over you. Some share that they feel a heat go through a certain part of their body indicating healing. Some share a picture they see or vision about something. Eventually most report an encounter with Jesus while eating the Body followed by a sense of His message while drinking the Blood. The message comes like hearing the Holy Spirit whisper or His voice usually relating to what we encountered while eating the bread.
“The Overflow”
As we continue to share our experiences with each other our hearts overflow. Scriptures come to life. The Holy Spirit sometimes ‘connects the dots’ from one person to another. The experience unfolds and the Holy Spirit leads the way. It is remarkable. The Overflow sometimes spills over for a while and may continue throughout the rest of day.
