"The New Worship" is a "Kissing Ground" Between the Believer & JESUS
What is worship? It is loving reverence, leaning forward as if to kiss - to be prostrate on one's knees; as the "kissing ground" between believers (The bride) and JESUS (The Groom).
"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24
Worship: proskynéō (from 4314 /prós, "towards" and kyneo, "to kiss") has been (metaphorically) described as "the kissing-ground" between believers (the Bride) and Christ (the heavenly Bridegroom).
So literally, worship is an act of holy, loving, intimate reverence that includes a physical action of adoration. In a phrase, Worship is to lean into and "kiss the Holy Spirit" or as King David said, "Kiss the Son or you will perish in the way."
Communion begins with Jesus. He knocks at the door of your heart and announces He loves you. When you open the door to Him, He comes to dine at your table where you discover you need nothing but Him. It is now your life in His hands. (Revelation 3:20) Then He leads you to His "Green Pasture Resort" where He makes you lie down to feed on His good provision and to drink from His eternal supply of joy. He restores you. He leads you. You get to know Him. He reassures you that there is no reason to ever fear again.
Then He leads you to His Table. There He feeds you on His presence. You feed on the bread of life, His body. You drink the wine of His love, to become like His blood pumping in your veins. He anoints your head with the oil of revelation about things eternal and the cup of your heart overflows with the water of His Spirit. In effect you share His presence in such a personal way it is like it is just you and Him. His goodness becomes an aroma that lets others know you have been with Him. Your touch sends His mercy to all you come in contact with. You know that from now on you will live in His dwelling forever. This is what it is like to 'Kiss the Son and to be intimate with His Spirit'. This is the intention of all worship. Psalm 23
Communion Is Worship. It is the centerpiece of worship. It may be what all else leads us to. The definition of worship in the Greek is very similar to what people experience when they encounter JESUS in CommunionFire. There is a certain leaning into His presence while eating the bread. There is a closeness and intimacy with the Holy Spirit in drinking the wine. Its almost like the bread becomes part of our flesh and the wine quickens the life in the blood carrying the presence and power of God into our bloodstream.
Admittedly, we are looking for the wine skins that go with this new wine of CommunionFire. We have already learned that it doesn't work so much in the old wine skins. So we don't totally understand how this is going to play out as others share the experience.
What we are noticing, however, that there appears to be many levels that contribute to the full worship experience. We have begun to see the first two emerge and a third one coming into view. The first two seem to be emerging organically by the leading of the Holy Spirit and we sense that this is how the rest will emerge. It is very exciting to watch JESUS orchestrate our hearts and our lives.
First is having Communion at home daily or on a frequent basis. This is something that happens because of the miraculous power being unleashed and the hunger it creates for more.
Second, we have seen daily home worship extend to sharing Communion with others in home group (life group) settings. Some people who host have a meal and Communion. Some have what is being called "Coffee & Communion". The idea is to share with others on a weekly or monthly basis what is being experienced at home. This allows those sharing regular times of Communion at home to meet together. Then is is a good place for those who would like to find out whats going on to 'taste and see' for themselves. It creates a hunger for the Lord on another level - in the context of the Body of Christ.
