In The Fire Light: Jesus says, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day." He was speaking about a Table in the future that He prepares and is the host. David prophesied about it, "He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies." It is The Table of the Lord and perhaps points to the most important night in the history of creation.
We welcome you to discuss CommunionFire™ and Pray About It – What is your communion experience? Have you ever experienced the CommunionFire? Have questions? Please leave your comments!
John's Gospel is the only one not to describe The Lord's Table as in the other Gospels. John wrote that Jesus prophesied early in His ministry about the meaning of His body and blood - the Communion meal, at a synagogue in Capernaum. Can you imagine the night Jesus introduced Communion what the disciples must have been thinking? 'So, this is what the Master was telling us about in Capernaum when so many turned away!'
Before the multitudes who had just seen Him multiply the loaves and fishes, Jesus says, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” Where do we find this heavenly meal? This Love Feast? Jesus invites all who will come to have a seat at His Table. He is the host and He is the feast! That is when the Miracle of CommunionFire takes place.
Jesus went on to talk about how the Communion meal at His Table was the way God provided New Testament believers to see the answer to Jesus' prayer in John 17, “For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me." Communion is God's provision to bring about our Communion with Jesus, one another and reassurance of eternal life.
This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but those who feed on this bread will live forever.” The bread is His flesh and the Cup gives us His Blood. When we eat and drink we begin to experience eternal life right now. We get a glimpse of Jesus in the fire light of heaven. We hear His voice and and become first hand witnesses at His Table right now.
Jesus asks, “Does this offend you?” At Capernaum it was so controversial that many who followed turned away. Then Jesus turned to the 12 and asked, “Will you also go away?” From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve. Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.”
CommunionFire™ Creates Awe & a Sense of Jesus' Tangible Grace & Goodness
Jesus planted the prophetic vision for Communion in John 6 then in John 13-17 the prophecy was fulfilled. Just before His crucifixion He did something radical, He washed their feet, replaced the Passover meal with the Communion meal – and said, “Do this in remembrance of me.” His followers carried it on as the central focus of Christian Life. Then He spoke to them five times about the coming of the Holy Spirit and then He prayed for them to have communion always. (John 13-17)
We share CommunionFire™ like the early Church! “They continued steadfastly in the Apostolic directives for Community & Communion and Prayer, and the Lord added to their numbers daily.” Acts:2:37-46 In Verse 42 we are told they broke bread from house to house. They ate their meals with gladness and singleness of heart. There was an ongoing sense of 'awe' as there were mighty signs and wonders. Then in verse 46 it is declared again, 'they broke bread from house to house blanketing the people with powerful sense of God's grace visiting them and Jesus added daily to the number of the Church.' CommunionFire™ continues to be the light of Jesus burning in our heart individually and also in community!
The sharing of the Gospel and the sharing of the Lord’s Table are one in the same. “Go therefore into all the world and share the Gospel of Jesus grace with everyone… directing them to observe all that I have commanded you…” Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me.” Then He said He would send His Holy Spirit to "bring all things to your remembrance." What we witness in Communion with Him we share with God's people and the world. We shout from the housetops!
We learn at His Table that Jesus is not dead but alive and meeting with those who feast on Him in Communion! He anoints our head with oil and our cup runs over with His goodness and mercy. Many see it and are in awe and then trust in Him! At the Table of Jesus we receive all He has to give and our lives overflow with His eternal love.
