In the Fire Light: "Beloved, we are God’s children now, we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is." 1 John 3:2
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another." John 13:34
We know we are supposed to love one another. We do, well, we try. Some people are easy to love. I can think of plenty of friends and family that are easy to love, but I tell you the truth, there are those…that can make me want to pull my hair out!
We use the same language with these people, we act the same way, but with them we get different results. Yet, we keep on trying. Then the day comes when we run out of ideas. We stop picking up their phone calls, we avoid places they may be.
We've tried in our own strength, we really did. Perhaps that is the problem.
Now we are spending time in CommunionFire. The more time we spend with Jesus in CommunionFire the more it seems He covers us with His love. We also learn how he speaks to us. John 10 says, "My sheep know my voice." We recognize Him now and we know His voice.
We have learned that He is full of goodness, patience and joy. He is pure love, pure light and pure grace. We get used to seeing Him like this and His character sort of rubs off on us. Maybe it’s because we now have a better understanding about how He treats us.
He is compassionate. We can feel His embrace when we are frustrated or miss the mark. He speaks to us when we are unlovable, cranky or struggling. He doesn't come to us and point out our lack of faith, He just covers us with His love.
A pastor recently asked me how CommunionFire has changed my life. It was a good question.
I responded, "His character becomes my strength."We cannot comprehend it but, we are changed. We have no ability to be full of grace on our own. We've tried that. In effect we come to the end of ourselves.
Then suddenly we love as He loves, care as He cares. His gentleness is more powerful than we thought. Somehow its easier to step aside to let His Spirit works inside and through us. His love employs us to show consideration to others.
His demeanor, expression and personality impact us. He is Wonderful, Counselor, The Prince of Peace, The Servant King and Lover of our souls. In CommunionFire we see just how amazing He is. Our tendencies of self serving turns to serving others. His good graces take over our natural tendencies to be demanding. We give up our chair. We donate our coat. We embrace the guilty.
We wash the feet of the sinner. We open our hands instead of pointing the finger. We love the unlovely. We embrace the resistant. Why? Because that is how Jesus relates to others through us.
By this is love perfected... because as He is so are we in this world." 1 John 4:17
For the Lord God is sunlight and our shield: He shares His grace and glory. No good thing will He with hold from those who walk in His love. Psalm 84:11
