In The Fire Light: The picture from our Missionary friends in Ecuador shows the sun rising over Quito. It reminds us of a vision Isaiah had, "Arise shine for our light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen upon you." Isaiah 60:1
When the glory of the Lord rises upon you powerful, heavenly things start happening. "The least of you will become a thousand, the smallest a mighty nation. I am the Lord in its time; I will do this swiftly.” Isaiah 60:22
Emmanuel, God is with us! His light shines upon you and when He comes to you and you receive Him, He is in you. His glory fills you, covers you and is seen upon you!
Emmanuel is with us. He can take the most marginal person or nation and make them mighty and He can do it quickly! A small missionary YWAM Team in Quito, can multiply to become thousands - quickly! When Jesus is with us we are bathed in the light of His glory! Isaiah 7:14
The word Glory means 'the unspoken manifestation of God, His splendor.' In 2 Corinthians 3 the word is referred to 14 times in 18 verses. It is the same glory described in Isaiah 60. Us in His glory becomes like gas meeting a spark that ignites His fire inside our heart.
The fire in CommunionFire is the Glory of Jesus. It is where we see Jesus at work in our hearts. In His light our eyes are opened in the breaking of the bread and we recognize Him. As we encounter His presence we encounter His glory! The result is that we are being transformed by His glory!
How does the Holy Spirit convey this glory of Jesus when we encounter Him in Communion? Consider that night in Bethlehem when Isaiah's prophecy was fulfilled as Emmanuel rested in the manger - the table where the beasts of the field would feed. As we celebrate that Table at Christmas it feeds us with the presence of Jesus.
We are like the sheep and beasts that need the newborn bread of eternal life in Bethlehem. We feast upon His love and grace, beneath heaven's glory of Bethlehem's star. The Holy Spirit inscribes the encounter with the "Word made flesh" onto the fleshly table of our hearts. We become 'walking Bibles' that continue to tell the story of Emmanuel.
Some have said, "You may be the only Bible some people ever read!" We feed at His Table and He writes on our Table. Other can read us too. They can tell we dine with Him because they see the effect of our communion with Him. They know God is with us!
2 Corinthians 3:3 "You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on the table of flesh in your hearts."
"But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit." 2 Corinthians 3:18
